Geography of Seychelles

The Granitic Seychelles are located in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar. It is roughly 5 degrees South of the equator, and about 1,000 miles off the coast of Africa. The total area of the islands combined is 455 sq. km. There are 115 islands in the archipelagos of the Seychelles. Within this group of islands two island types exists that are generated by granite and limestone. There are 42 islands that are produced from granite, and the remaining islands are created from limestone.
